Dock
Bloom supported with the environmental and public realm enhancements.
Bloom supported British Land on the environmental and public realm enhancements at Canada Dock, delivering a series of interventions designed to improve biodiversity, water quality, and community access to the waterfront.
The project introduced three distinct wetland habitats, seven new wetland islands, and over a kilometre of shallow-edge planting, significantly enriching local ecology. New reed beds, trees, and planting schemes were introduced to support a wide range of wildlife. Access to the water’s edge was transformed through new steps, waterside seating, an amphitheatre, and a dipping pond, creating a space for the community to enjoy, learn, and engage with the heritage and ecology of the Dock.
A new 170-metre pedestrian boardwalk was also delivered across Canada Dock. Designed by Asif Khan, the boardwalk provides an architecturally distinctive route connecting Canada Water Station with the emerging town centre. Inspired by the historic Surrey Docks and the deal porters who once transported timber across the area, the structure enhances accessibility while enabling people to experience the wetland environment without disturbing it.
